App Store
If we ship an iOS app, the store page is part of the work: copy, previews, and a privacy story that will pass review.
What it is
The App Store is Apple's shop for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch, and Apple TV software. It is review, search, charts, in-app purchase, subscriptions, and the 15 or 30 percent that funds the shop. If you want software on an iPhone that did not come from a browser, this is the door.
Listing copy, screenshots, privacy nutrition labels, age ratings, and review notes are part of the product. An app that works on a TestFlight build and fails review is not shipped. The store is a product surface, not a dump at the end of engineering.
What it does
Teams use the App Store to distribute iOS apps, sell subscriptions, run in-app purchases, and appear in search when someone types the job the app does. Product, legal, and design all touch the listing.
We treat screenshots, privacy copy, and the review notes as part of the build. Certificates and the listing sit in your Apple Developer account. We do not ship a native wrapper of a site that should have stayed a site.
Why we use it
A listing that matches the product, not a screenshot graveyard.
Web first when we can. Native when we must. The listing is written in the same voice as the site. Accounts work in both places. TestFlight is the prototype you can hold. You approve that build before it goes to the store.
Review week should not be the first time we talk about privacy copy.
Built on it
One of the most downloaded apps on the store, and a default iPhone habit.
Uber
Distributed to riders and drivers through the App Store, not a web bookmark.
TikTok
A consumer app whose iOS presence is the product for a large share of users.
Meta's messenger reaches iPhone users through Apple's store and review.
Apple Arcade
Apple's own subscription shelf inside the same store.
