Framer
Framer is useful for a campaign that has to move. We use it for that, then we take the system into code when the site has to last.
What it is
Framer is a design and publishing tool that starts as a canvas and ends as a hosted site. Motion, CMS, and React components in the same file are the pitch. A lot of startup homepages that feel 'designed' in 2025 were published from Framer rather than from a repo.
It is closer to a high-end brochure than to an application platform. Auth, billing, and app states still want Next.js. Framer wins when the site is the campaign and the motion is the point.
What it does
Teams use Framer for homepages, launch sites, and brand stories that need animation without a front-end sprint. Designers publish. The CMS covers a blog or a changelog. Anything past that is a stretch.
We use it for the site that has to look expensive quickly, with a note on when to leave. We do not fake a SaaS app inside Framer.
Why we use it
Motion and marketing when the brief is a page, not a product.
Design in Framer when motion is the brief. Rebuild in Next.js when you need a CMS, accounts, or a repo. The tokens come with us. You click the motion. We do not present a video of a website and call it a prototype.
A launch page in days is allowed. Calling it the company platform is not.
